Awareness of First Aid for Mental Health (level 1 RQF/Level 4 SCQF)

Available In person or via Distance Learning.

This ½-Day course provides learners with the knowledge to identify suspected mental health conditions and the skills to start a conversation and be able to signpost the person towards professional help.

The course materials also include a comprehensive handbook.

First Aid for Mental Health (level 2 RQF/Level 5 SCQF)

Available In person or via Distance Learning.

This 1-Day course covers the content of the level 1/4 course (see left) but also expands on the effects of drugs and alcohol, incorporates the First Aid for Mental Health Action Plan and covers ways in which a positive mental health culture can be supported within a workplace.

Successful completion of this course (including assessment) qualifies participants as First Aiders for Mental Health for 3 years.

The course materials also include a comprehensive handbook.

First Aid for Youth Mental Health (level 2 RQF/Level 5 SCQF)

Available In person or via Distance Learning.

This 1-Day course is suitable for anyone who actively connects with children such as parents, carers, teachers, youth group leaders and young adults (aged 14 or over).

The qualification has been designed with children and young people in mind covering areas such as depression, self-harm, eating disorders and bullying and will provide the knowledge and skills to identify a potential mental health condition, start a conversation, and provide support and guidance to professional help.

Successful completion of this course (including assessment) qualifies participants as First Aiders for Youth Mental Health for 3 years.

First Aid for Mental Health Supervising (level 3 RQF/Level 6 SCQF)

Available In person or via Distance Learning.

This 2-Day course goes into detail on a wide range of mental health conditions and the support and help provided by healthcare professionals. It covers the content of both the Level 1/4 and Level 2/5 qualifications listed to the left – but is aimed at Trainer/Assessors and/or supervisor level within the workplace.

In addition to material covered on the other course levels, participants will learn about the first aid action plan for mental health, be able to put it in place and understand how to implement a positive mental health culture in the workplace.

All of the above courses are fully accredited by the First Aid Awards, and via material approved by NUCO Training (FAA Approved Centre no. FAAC001)

It is important to note that participants in the above courses will neither diagnose nor treat mental health conditionsas this can only be carried out by healthcare professionals – but will gain the knowledge to identify when a person may have a condition and know where they can go to get help.
